Our Mission
Education That Helps Nonprofits Take Proper Care of Their Funds
Givora was built to fill a gap: clear, practical financial management learning designed specifically for nonprofit teams in Malaysia — not repurposed from corporate training, not overwhelming, not preachy.

How Givora Started
Givora grew out of a straightforward observation: many nonprofit teams in Malaysia are doing important work, but their financial records are held together with goodwill and spreadsheets that nobody fully understands. When an audit arrives or a board asks for a clear breakdown, the scramble begins.
Our founders — who have backgrounds spanning nonprofit administration, adult education, and financial operations — started Givora in Johor Bahru to address this directly. Not with complex software, not with expensive consultants, but with accessible, structured learning that gives teams the vocabulary and the habits they need.
We are based in Johor Bahru and work with organisations across Malaysia, offering courses, workshops, and a comprehensive program that teams can fit around their existing work.
Our Mission
What We're Here to Do
Our mission is to make sound financial stewardship accessible to every nonprofit team in Malaysia — regardless of size, sector, or prior knowledge of finance.
We believe that when a nonprofit understands how to organise its funds, track its activities clearly, and prepare honest reports, it becomes more trusted — by its board, its donors, and the communities it serves.
Our Core Values
- Clarity over complexity. We explain things in plain language and keep the focus on what's practical.
- Respect for the mission. We understand that nonprofit teams are not accountants. Our approach meets people where they are.
- Honest framing. We present everything as general educational guidance. We do not claim to replace qualified professionals.
- Long-term habits. We care about routines that last, not quick fixes that fade.

Our Standards
How We Keep Our Learning Programmes Trustworthy
We hold ourselves to a consistent set of standards across every course and workshop we deliver.
Adult Learning Principles
All programme content is structured around established adult education approaches — practical application, reflection, and incremental skill-building rather than passive lectures.
Regular Content Review
Course materials and templates are reviewed regularly to reflect current sector practices. We update content when relevant guidance or common practices shift.
Privacy by Default
Participant information is handled with care. We collect only what is needed for programme delivery and do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
Clear Scope Statements
Every programme page and session clearly states what the content covers and what it does not. Participants are encouraged to seek qualified professional advice for statutory or regulatory matters.
Participant Feedback Loop
We collect structured feedback at the end of each programme and use it to improve future sessions. Facilitators review participant suggestions before each new cohort.
Educational Framing
All content is presented as general educational guidance. We do not position ourselves as auditors, accountants, or regulators — and we communicate this clearly to every participant.
Our Expertise
What We Know and How We Work
Nonprofit organisations in Malaysia operate under a range of funding models — donations, grants, government allocations, programme fees — and each of these comes with its own record-keeping expectations. Most finance guides are written for corporations or for individual money management. Neither maps cleanly to the nonprofit context.
Givora's programmes focus on the structures that serve nonprofits well: clear fund separation, activity-based recording, transparent summaries for boards and donors, and records that make the annual audit a calm process rather than a stressful one. We use language that people actually understand and avoid the kind of accounting jargon that makes financial management feel inaccessible.
Our team brings direct experience from within the nonprofit sector — not from consulting firms looking at it from the outside. We have sat in the same roles our participants occupy, and that shapes how we explain things, what we include in our templates, and how we respond to questions during live sessions.
Organisations based in Johor Bahru can visit us directly at our office on Jalan Bukit Meldrum. Participants from other parts of Malaysia join the online and hybrid elements of our programmes. We are committed to keeping our materials relevant to the Malaysian nonprofit landscape, where sector expectations and reporting norms have their own character.
